Albanach.org stuff
We have recently set up a web store through Cafe Press where you can purchase items that will both show off your Scottish heritage as well as support this site. We have t-shits, caps, coffee mugs, infant and children's clothing, auto decals, and much more! Below are pictures of just a few of our items.
Click this link (or any of the pictures below) to go to the Albanach.org store!
Scottish Highland Dress Retailers When shopping for quality Scottish Highland dress clothing (kilts, kilted skirts, and all the accessories), I strongly suggest purchasing from the gift shop of the Scottish Tartans Museum. Why? Well, in the interest of full disclosure, I do manage the museum, and so your patronage supports my livelihood and feeds my family! But there are many other reasons that are slightly less personal. To begin with, unlike other Highland Dress retailers, the Scottish Tartans Museum is a non-profit heritage center. We are more than a Scottish import shop. Our museum houses some very unique treasures, including some of the oldest kilts known to survive, and many early specimens of tartan cloth. Our main goal is to educate the public about the history of Highland dress. We conduct museum tours, as well as give programs at local schools. Our staff and volunteers speak at libraries, Scottish interest groups, and travel to Highland Games and festivals to give seminars, man information tents, and answer questions on tartan. The sole reason our gift shop exists is to provide funding for the museum. So when you shop with us, your money is going right back into supporting your Scottish heritage. Plus, as a museum, our staff is well educated and knowledgeable about the tartan, and so you are certain to get accurate answers to any questions you might have. If you are looking specifically for a district tartan, as opposed to a clan or family tartan, you might consider shopping at www.district-tartans.com, which is a project of the Scottish Tartans Museum. Like the museum's main gift shop page, all sales from this site go to fund the museum. The difference is that this site focuses solely on district tartans, a somewhat neglected aspect of Scotland's tartan heritage.
